This dishwasher is aweful. It runs too long, the dishes have spots on them after the cycle, and the dishes are never dry regardless of what setting I put the dishwasher on. I have had a service call on the dishwasher and they said everything is working as designed. I am returning this item back to home depot.

GE GDWF100R30BB Dishwasher

Does not dry dishes and there is always a funky odor even after washing the same load several times. Just today I now noticed that one of the vents has turned white and I'm not sure what could have possibly caused this...the white does not wash off.

The repair man was here last week and told me nothing is wrong and that the water is not hot enough. The funny thing is my previous GE dishwasher was 11 years old and before it recenty stopped working I never had any problems. Dishes always came out spotless and dry.

I'm totally disgusted at this point.

P.O.S. doesn't even begin to describe this HORRIBLE product!!!

My darling husband bought it for my birthday and had it installed before I got home-UGH! In the 3 yrs. we've had it, the pump has been replaced twice and been "serviced" 4 other times. The Coup de grace was a slow leak, that RUINED my BRAND NEW TEAK FLOORS, before we figured out what was happening and realized it was the @#$%! GE Profile nightmare.

We always must WASH our dishes before we even put them in to be "washed". Many times they STILL don't come out clean, even with the best soap and anti-spot products added. The GE Profile dishwasher is virtually useless.

The only thing we like about about it are the baskets (when they don't bend or break) and the quietness (but that could be because the motor wasn't working too.) Have I made myself clear?

GE GSD3360N00SS
Dishwasher Review

Our GE dishwasher is 4 years old. It does not wash dishes cleanly, glasses have residue on the sides and the bottom of the glass. We have to take out most of our glasses and re-wash them.

We tested liquid, powder and tablet detergents. The dishes and shallow glasses wash a bit better.

Our GE refrigerator is the worst I have ever had. I have purchased about 5 sets of appliances over the years (dishwashers, W/D, refrig, stove). Whirlpool, Amana, Maytag have never given me the problems that GE has.

The GE appliances came with this new house. 4 years is much too soon to replace appliances.

I will never buy a GE dishwasher! When we moved into our house last year, this dishwasher was already here. It's only 3 years old and all we have had is problems. First problem is that the plastic tube that gives the dishwasher water, vibrates and is very loud. After having a repair person come out, they told us it was the motor and replaced it. The noise was still there and finally we tied a rubber band around it to attach it to the dish rack and the noise stopped. Now about once a month, the dishwasher gets clogged and leaves food residue on all of the dishes. My husband has to go in and clean the dishwasher constantly for it to work half decent. Also, my mother recently bought a GE dishwasher and had same problem with vibrating noise so she had Lowe's replace it.

GDWF100R Dishwasher Review

(Portland, Oregon)

I bought this dishwasher about 3 months ago to replace a very satisfactory 21 year old Maytag that had developed a bad motor. I chose this model for its generally good ratings, stainless steel interior and steam-clean feature.

Compared with my old machine, I find it about equally good at washing but not as good at drying. It dries somewhat better with the Heated Dry setting but doesn't dry completely even then unless the door is left open for a while as soon as the cycle ends. I don't mind this too much, but someone who expects completely dry dishes might want to avoid this model.

I find it a much quieter machine than my old one, almost inaudible even when standing right next to it. Very roomy interior (a tall-tub model) accommodates large irregular items, but it took some trial and error to figure out how to place them so they'd get clean and not block any of the 3 impellers.

One feature I don't like is that the display doesn't indicate what part of the cycle it's in, or how much time is left; I consider this a minor inconvenience.

GDWF100R SUMMARY:
Washing ability: very good
Drying ability: fair
Capacity: very good
Noise level: excellent
Overall convenience: average

You'd be a chump if you bought this $600 product. You'd have to find another $500 and the space to install a dedicated water heater, then this may be the product for you.

This dishwasher replaced two previous ones that lasted for 10 years each. Within a few months there was severe blade clogging and streaking. The GE tech insisted that "modern" dishwashers did not have localized heating to qualify as energy-efficient, and then lowered my expectations that I would be always unhappy with the dishwasher until I installed a local water heater, and that modern soaps could not contain some chemical any longer and did not break down and combine well with less than 120 degrees water.

Nowhere in any literature does GE warn you that you have to install a local heater in most homes where the main heater is more than 20 feet away.

The worst dishwasher I have ever used.
The glass/cup holders are too small in 2 of the rows.

The bottom unit does not slide smoothly, frequently upsetting the contents. The holders are badly place resulting in plates being pushed too far forward.

It lasted only 3 1/2 years. Towards the end it would make noises and soap would accumulate at the bottom and stick to the dishes. Compared to the previous KitchenAid dishwasher owned, the cleaning cycles were very long. Will go back to KitchenAid.

What I like is that it is very quiet.
What I don't like is: less space for dishes due to 3" flatware holders in upper and lower rack; upper racks don't hold wine glasses at an angle so the bottoms will dry; upper rack is not designed to hold small dishes and glasses tip over; soap accumulates in soap dispenser; wash cycle is 2+ hours long. Who needs upper only wash...aren't there always a few dishes in the bottom rack too?

5 years is about all you get from a GE appliance. We built the house in 2002 and had all GE Profile appliances installed. The only one that is still working is the Warming drawer. All have been replaced with the first one going down after three years (so much for the two year warrantee)

So youi get my thrust. No more GE for ME.

Nothing wrong with these dishwashers NEW
by: Anonymous

I sell and service these dishwashers and I can say that they wash & dry the dishes VERY well when some basic steps are observed. 1st of all, make sure to run the hot water from your tap to flush out the cold water from the hot water line. These new "energy efficient" machines have a lower wattage heating element compared to the older dishwashers and rely on the heat "accumulated" from the hot water which should be at least 125°F. Avoid using the "delay start" since in most cases, the water in the hot water line has had time to cool off and you're not there to flush it out. So little water is used, that you could end up with an entire fill of cold water. Very important->don't let the rinse agent dispenser go dry - top it up every couple weeks or so.

Dishes not drying fix
by: Anonymous

I am an appliance repair tech, and I can tell you that all the new dishwashers do not heat to dry the dishes due to efficiency standards. You MUST use rinse aide in the new dishwashers in order for the dishes to dry. If you read your manual it will say the same thing.

Interior is not as spacious in use as it appears in the show room.ware wash baskets are without thought to use or size. Would definately look at other models- we have had for 3 weeks and buyers remorse has set in.

Save your MONEY....Main complaint is that dishes will not dry no matter what setting one uses. Apparently there is no know fix for this problem.

Long story short is that we exchanged it for a Kenmore. Replacing the GE is the only solution to the drying issue.

The only plus with this unit is the sleek design and the superb quieteness of operation and this does earn the one star.

by: Anonymous

Don't buy this piece of junk. The other dishwasher owner was correct no matter what setting the dishwasher is on it won't dry.

GE came out and gave me a story that the water from the faucet needed to be hotter approx. 150 the manual says 120. The heating element in the dishwasher doesn't kick in unless the water is at 120. I turned up my new water heater and it still didn't solve the problem (not a real energy saver).

Also the dishwasher when empty or full, it smelled awful like mildew. Tomorrow Home Depot is picking up the dishwasher for return. GE told me they would only do service calls and will never exchange the product, that gives me no faith in GE.

I bought a GLDT690 series GE Dishwasher at Home depot. We chose this model because it is "Shorter" than most. We have space constraints due to hardwood flooring being installed after the cabinets and countertops.

After installing the unit I ran it and it would not drain. GE came out and could not figure out the problem - model is "too new". They had to order parts - would take a week. In the meantime Home Depot agreed to replace the dishwasher. I will post after we get the new one.

Do not buy this dishwasher. It broke after just two years of use.

Worked fine for the first year. As soon as the warranty expired, problems started. We had the repair man in several times and finally decided to buy a new dishwasher.

The main problems - water will not drain. Does not clean dishes or glasses properly. Glasses came out a milky, cloudy color.

This dishwasher is making me stay away from GE dishwashers in general.

We've had this dishwasher for two years. Water will not drain - the pieces in the bottom are beginning to fall apart and the plastic is actually corroding. I"m now trying to replace the ridiculous silicone piece that connects in the bottom of the tub of the dishwasher. It is nearly impossible to clear clogs out of as there is no filter! I have cleared all the lines of debris which is a huge job and it still won't drain. I imagine the pump is bad. I will never buy another dishwasher like this one.

This is the second GE model in two years, neither clean to my expectations. Additionally this one drips a puddle of water on the floor from the vent when the door is lowered to empty. The repairman informed me that that's what it does. He further claimed other models have a motor that pulls the moisture away from the vent, it has to go somewhere.

I'd give this 4.5 stars. I'm sure it was cheap, it came with our new home but it has lasted almost 16 years and cleaned our dishes very well, most of the time. I did have to rinse our dishes first or the top rack glasses or dishes would have food on them. Obviously the sprays were not very strong.

The worst thing about this model is it was so noisy there was no way you could carry on a conversation in any of the surrounding rooms much less the kitchen itself.

We are looking forward to getting a nice, quiet dishwasher now. Our plumber told us to look at the Kitchenaid, Maytag and Whirlpool models. My sister has a Bosch and it's wonderful. We will look at those too.

We have had nothing but ISSUES with this model. We have had it for 2 1/2 months and so far have not been able to use it due to the LEAKS it has. We have had the tech out 3 times and has been UNABLE TO FIX IT. His first visit he took out a plug on the inside near the seal and tightened the breather a round disc in the door approx 2 inch diameter he didn't stay long enough to see if this worked it didn't it was LEAKING again within 10 MINUTES. I CALLED YET AGAIN and the following week the same tech turned up asking if the seal he ordered had turned up which I didn't know anything about it hadn't turned up but he said book another visit and it should be here by then' a week later it turned up and a few days later so did the tech he installed the seal and left I asked if he could stay and check it out but his answer was didn't have time to wait around and guess what it STARTED LEAKING AGAIN 10 minutes after he left in the short time he was here he did say he had ANOTHER 3 MACHINES to go and look at all the SAME MODEL SAME ISSUE' and he also added if it LEAKS again he's going to have to CHANGE THE DOOR{AND THIS IS A NEW DISHWASER}. So once again I called the main number and was told they would send the tech out AGAIN' it was at this point I told them I WANTED A NEW MACHINE and was TOLD THIS MODEL DOESNT COME WITH AN EXCHANGE ON THE WARRANTY I reminded them of the California LEMON LAW and they said it made no difference it doesn't apply to them' all they are prepared to do is keep trying to replace parts and so I'm filing a complaint with Pardee homes who supplied this appliance with the brand new house. Please beware of GE they will not stand behind a REPLACEMENT warranty.

THE SCORE FOR THIS DISHWASHER ZERO
THIS MODEL SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AGAINST IT

6 weeks old and already repaired once. According to the repair man, in order to be energy efficient, this dishwasher has two smaller pumps, which is inadequate to process bits of food as promised in the manual and the "food disposal" feature. Agree with earlier poster that one must wash dishes first, so why have a dishwasher?

1 star - it is a piece of junk.

It never fully dries the dishes, and there is a design flaw in the housing cover that holds the micro switch plunder.

The clips holding the housing cover on are too small, and usually within 30 days the cover will pop off sending the spring and plunger into oblivion, which then requires an order of a new electronics board (1 - 2 week delivery) and two house calls for the technician to replace it.

Had four service calls in less than one year, has soured me on GE appliances for good.

I replaced a 20 year old Maytag with this lovely stainless GE model to only be disappointed by its ability to clean. The dishes especially any bowls on top rack or items on top rack have to be stacked FAR away from each other to get all the food off, and they are NOT heavily soiled.

So the idea of stacking a row of bowls is not an option (which certainly was and worked great in my ancient Maytag) so you really can't get many bowls or even dishes stacked neatly to utilize all the space.

I have tried ALL different settings (even sanitize, steam, add heat) but end up washing several dishes by hand after each load.

It is also not as quiet as I had hoped, but is an improvement over the very loud 20 year old Maytag that was starting to rust around bottom.

Overall, I would give this washer a 2.75 at most. Looks nice, inside looks nice but doesn't clean so not worth the big price tag !!!

Don't waste your money on the GE gdwt260r10ss dishwasher! NEW
by: Anonymous

Over the years I have often heard people talking about the dishwashers they own and how they have to rinse all the dishes before washing them in their dishwasher. I could never believe it because I've never had a dishwasher that doesn't clean wonderfully. Most dishwashers I've had were many years old, too. Now I moved into a new home and found this lovely looking dishwasher. I ran my first load and found some dishes that needed to be rewashed. Next time I put dishes in it, I made sure they were a little cleaner and not up against each other too much. Didn't matter. The dishes were still dirty. I've used it about 6 times now and it's the same thing every time. There are always dirty dishes left in it. I have decided that I will wash my dishes by hand instead of dealing with this piece of junk. Don't waste your money on this machine!

I had the same experience as the previous comments had said. Great in appearance, but, does NOT clean dishes. I basically had to hand clean half of the dishes after running it, or, completely rinse off all the dishes before. It took a year and 7 house calls, but, they just informed me today that they will be replacing it. (But, every time I had to call GE, I was on hold for 15 -35 minutes and it was a REAL pain.

GE GLD7400RWW
Dishwasher Review

by Wendy
(Salt Lake City, Utah)

I was very excited to get a new dishwasher. I thought I had researched what would be the best for the money we had. I found that the GE Model #: GLD7400RWW seemed to fit the bill. I was wrong.

There are times (many of them) that I wish I had my $300 dishwasher back. There are only 2 advantages to this new dishwasher. It holds a larger capacity and the delay start. Unfortunately they do not outweigh the problems I have had.

First, it does not clean as well as my other or past dishwashers. If you do not rinse ALL the food off first, there is a good chance it will still be on the plate (or the one next to it).

Next, you are supposed to be able to lower the top rack to allow putting taller object in it. Well, if you do this, the soap dispenser does not open all the way and you have soap left in the dispenser. It also happens if there is a taller object in the front of the dispenser.

But I think the most frustrating problem I have with my dishwasher is the fact that when you pull the top rack forward you never know if the clips in the back of the rails are going to pop off and allow the top rack to fall to the bottom. I have found that even if I pull it out slowly they will still pop off. We have called to have this fixed but to no avail.

Lesson for me do not believe all the sites that claim to be impartial reviews. Hope this helps someone else avoid the misery I now call my dishwasher.

There's a million uprights that keep you from putting more than 1 large casserole dish or bowls down there. It looks like a porcupine. It was made for drinking glasses and flat plates. Have to wash your pots & pans in the sink.....

This thing SUX.....

Give me back my old MAYTAG....

Maytag MDBH985AWS

* One star.

I will never buy another Maytag appliance again. This dishwasher is very loud and leaks water. After repeated service calls and a determination that the dishwasher cannot be fixed, Maytag is refusing to replace the dishwasher.

Fernanda Silva - Model GLD5666V00SS

(Canada)

Worst dishwasher and service experience ever

We brought a GE GLD4466RSS 1.5 year ago, but GE called us saying there was no GLD4466RSS in stocl so they would send an upgraded model GLD5666V00SS and it would take 20 more days to delivery because it would come from US (I'm in Canada). We said OK, at least it's we will get a better machine. WRONG! That is were our nightmare started.

We got the machine and it never worked properly. Full cycle doesn't go through till end every time, we can chose whatever cycle that it will have only a quick pre-wash cycle in only 20 minutes, the soap box opens once in a while and if you don't open the door, it will re-run the 20 min cycle every 2 hours. In the beginning it happened only once in a while, but now it works only like that (never have full cycle).

We called GE warranty services few times, got few parts replaced, at the second time we requested to replace the machine since we had same problem and we thought there was no point to try to fix it again. But we were told by the service company that GE wouldn't change until they try all tentative to repair the machine.

I've done some search and couldn't find this model on sale. I believe this crap was the worst model they ever build and they wanted to get away of the stock somehow. We regret for not rejecting this machine and accepted the tentative to repair it. Because this crap is ready to go to garbage and we will need to buy another one OF COURSE WE WON'T EVER BY A GE APPLIANCE AGAIN, EVER.

GE GSD2000F01WH

No frills model (no electronics - just has 1 dial knob to make your selection (ie. heavy - regular - or light wash)). Came with the house.

Was pretty good for about 7 years. Lately have been having problems with it (sometimes won't drain or fill properly -- I think it's a problem with the timer/switch assembly). I've been keeping it going the last few years by taking a few things apart here and there and fixing a few things.

It's now 10 years old but overall it's been pretty decent for a low-end model.

Portable Dishwasher

This is a portable dishwasher. I got it home and have tried it twice. Both times the dishes are dirty and water leaked out due to so much water on the bottom.

I am waiting for repair on it already. Shouldn't have this problem ... Beginning to think I bought a lemon and should just return it.

2 stars-- Not as good as our old Kenmore. It does not get the dishes clean, even when we pre-wash. It was originally priced at $499, and we bought it on sale for $419. This dishwasher is a little taller than the average dishwasher, and didn't want to fit under the cabinet. I assumed that all undercounter dishwashers were a standard size. We are looking for another after having this one for 2 1/2 months.

Poor Dishwasher - RATING -5
by: Anonymous

My dishwasher is only 385 days old and is dead. One week ago it started turning itself off prior to completion of cycle. Tonight it will not turn on.

I felt this was a very poor designed unit. Water hoes did not property fit back slot. Top rack was difficult to push in & pull out. Had to make sure I left a large open space on top & lower rack so water could get to soap dispenser. It did not have enough power to clean dishes properly.

I disliked this unit so much that I do not want to waste money calling a repair man. Putting this dishwasher in the trash is the best place for this unit. I am very sorry that I wasted my money.

Do not buy this unit.

One star. I have had this dishwasher for three months. It came from Lowe's. It is an expensive absolute piece of junk with flimsy plastic spray arms. It doesn't clean or dry anything. The dishes come out filthy. Basically, it cooks any food particles back on the dishes. I always run hot water before I start it and have tried all types of detergents and rinse aids. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on GE Profile. I can't believe i used to think that GE made any product of quality.

GE Dishwasher Model GLD5666V00SS

by J Mattei
(Welland, Ontario, Canada)

Ths is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned and I have had a dishwasher in my home for over 30 years. Nothing, and I mean nothing comes clean. It is nearly impossible to load if you have anying other than standard sized/shaped plates, cups, glasses, etc. Got a casserole dish - forget about trying to "safely" place it in the bottom rack of the dishwasher. Tines are so high that bowls, etc. do not sit stable. Thinking you'll put that casserole dish on the top rack? Well, it might fit but it won't come clean. I have had more glasses break since I started using it (only 3 weeks now) than with all my other dishwashers combined, over 30+ years. My glasses actually come out dirtier than when they went in! There is not one good thing that I can say about this dishwasher. Worst. Machine. Ever.

GE GLDA690
Dishwasher Review

by Kay Wagner
(Brookfield, CT)

I have found GE to have the best service on appliances in the past; I did not often need service as the appliances GE made lasted.

I have a refrigerator and a dishwasher. This model dishwasher lasted 18 months. I have owned many houses in my lifetime and this is the shortest period of time I have had a dishwasher.

The drain pump had a piece of glass caught in the fan. The new pump came to my home and that was also broken. Needless to say I question if I want GE to repair this dishwasher or just get a Maytag. I am thinking a Maytag would be the better choice.

I have never liked the racks as they are not well designed.

Still investigating repair or replace....
by: Kay Wagner

I have done some more research and have found Maytag is not reliable either.

Sears Kenmore has good reviews and Kitchen Aide Architectural Diswashers have a high rating. Kenmore's are made by GE.

Bosch is also at the top of the list, but I was not fond of the Bosch I had at my last home. It relied on the hot water heater to heat the water and my hot water heater was too far away from the dishwasher.

I am still thinking about repair of replace. I will go to Sears tomorrow and look at dishwashers. If I find one that has great dish racks for loading and it is reasonable I will buy one.

Most places charge $150 to haul the old one away and install the new one. Sears has a special this month so installation and take away are free.

The worst dishwasher I ever owned. I need to prewash all my dishes by hand as it is so "low water consumption" it just doesn't wash even on Preswash and cookware setting.

A big amount of liquid soap can be put in the door....and then dry up and get clogged. Did they even test it before releasing it to the market?

The GE technicians came multiple time but advise me of the good working condition! @#%&*
Worst EVER! Stay away.

GE EDW516ON10SS

Horrible dishwasher! We've had it 5 years, and used it for 4 (home was being remodeled when it was purchased). About a year ago, the dishwasher cleaning quality declined drastically. We thought it was due to the change in detergents. I found some old Cascade with phosphates, and while it helped, the dishes were still dirty.

The unit had a recall, and we thought we'd get to replace it. Unfortunately, GE would only offer a discount on their lowest-end dishwashers, so we opted to repair it. The repairman advised our cleaning problem was due to clogged wash arms. He replaced them (at a cost of $120). Two months later, the washer is not cleaning again, and the new wash arms are showing signs of being clogged. The top arm has stopped spinning.

Chunks the size of coffee beans come out of the new wash arms, I have no idea what this debris is since we rinse dishes before putting them in the machine. One of the lower jets appears to be clogged with a metal ball bearing. I don't recall that being on the menu.... When I look into the pipe that feeds the upper water arm, there is always something clogging it, it appears to be lettuce when I pull it out. Since we are rinsing the plates before putting them in the washer, I can only guess the machine is sprouting something?

We have been using a dishwashing cleaning product once a month since we got the new wash arms. It isn't helping. As we are replacing the dishwasher, I tried one last ditch effort to clear the wash arms by using straight TSP (the real stuff with phosphates). Afterward, more junk appeared in the wash arms that resembles onion skin, which I pulled out. It didn't help the cleaning, and the top arm still does not spin.

We used to be loyal GE customers. Not anymore!

My wife and I would rate this dishwasher at a 9. It is quiet, the controls are simple and the interior has a lot of room.

The thing that stopped this dishwasher from being a 10 is the drying. Even with the additional "added heat" option, there is still moisture on the silverware tray and sides of the dishwasher. It has a big impressive heating element, but doesn't get the interior to what I would consider "a final dry" stage.

Maybe that gets it the energy rating...I'd rather have the element use a bit more energy and get things dry.

This dishwasher does not wash my dishes ever. Unless on the Pot cycle it won't clean anything
I have to actually wash off my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. They come out wet and not clean most of the time.

It is a poor dishwasher, my Maytag was much better than this. Oh, it looks nice but takes 3 hours to work on pot cycle and they still come out dirty.

This is the worst Dishwasher I've ever owned.

I recently purchased this washer (8\17\2012) i have owned several dishwashers in my life but this has to be the worst. To expect the dishes to come out clean you must first wash off all food particles before putting them in the washer. I have a water softner and i fill the diapenser cup full. This washer unfortunatly doesnt have a pots and pans cycle, but i didnt want all the bells and whistlel Just more trouble . Washer is absolutly worthless.

GE Quiet Power 3

by Lois
(Naperville, IL)

Our GE sometimes shuts down without warning, so we repeatedly discover that a whole load of dishes is still dirty, and we usually find out about it right about the time we need to be able to reload the dishwasher.

It doesn't drain well. It leaves food spots on dishes and water spots or film on glasses. It's only about two years old, but we're looking for a better dishwasher.

I would give it one star for working quietly--when it works at all.

0/10. We have to wash the dishes by hand, then put them in the dishwasher, and 1/2 the time they come out dirtier than when they were put it. This was a piece of garbage day 1, and has steadily gotten worse. We had gotten this with a microwave and fridge all stainless steel matching. What energy star ratings don't take into account is when you have to wash the dishes twice because it doesn't clean them the first time around.

Perhaps energy star can do energy star ratings based on location. In New england, for the most part, water use is not expensive, but electricity is. So a unit that uses more water is ok in this area then one that uses more electricity. Opposite is the case in arizona.

It is best at finding the dirtiest dish and spreading its dirt to the rest of the dishes before drying it on so that's it is caked there.
